September 18 – September 19
Together with the Department of International Studies at De La Salle University, and with support from the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, we are hosting a workshop on the theme “The Indo-Pacific at a Crossroads: Taking Stock and Charting Future Trajectories”.
The workshop convenes ambassadors, scholars, and experts from across the Indo-Pacific to examine critical regional shifts since 2020, including China’s evolving influence, the strengthening of the QUAD, the operationalization of RCEP, U.S. policy transitions, supply chain reconfigurations, and rising regional tensions. It will also address pressing cross-cutting challenges such as climate vulnerability, technological disruption, and maritime security.
Through panels on geopolitical dynamics and institutional frameworks, participants will assess how middle powers and smaller states can shape the Indo-Pacific’s trajectory by navigating great power competition, strengthening ASEAN-led mechanisms, and advancing cooperation across multilateral and minilateral platforms. The dialogue aims to generate actionable insights for governments, businesses, and civil society to promote resilience and inclusive regional cooperation.
The workshop is structured around six thematic sessions:
- Setting the Stage: Strategic Assessment of the Indo-Pacific Landscape
- Geopolitical Dynamics: Taking Stock of Strategic Realignments
- Maritime Security: Lessons from Recent Developments
- Economic Resilience: Evaluating Adaptive Responses
- Multilateral and Minilateral Frameworks: Effectiveness Assessment
- Technology as a Public Good: Shaping Regional Cooperation, Climate Resilience, and Access in the Indo-Pacific
