The closed-door roundtable brought together a delegation from Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies and Indian experts during the delegation’s visit to the CSDR office. Discussions focused on the shifting security architecture in the Indo-Pacific, with detailed exchanges on how great-power competition is reshaping regional alignments and strategic calculus.
Participants analysed the evolving dynamics among the United States, China, Russia, and India, and how these rivalries influence the strategic behaviour of middle powers. The conversation also covered the expanding contours of India-Japan defense cooperation, including maritime security, emerging technologies, and operational coordination.
The group further examined the Quad’s direction and its contributions to a stable, rules-based order, as well as the growing agency of the Global South in shaping global governance and development priorities.
