This roundtable discussion examined the evolving India–South Korea partnership in defense and space cooperation. With South Korea aiming to become the world’s fourth-largest arms exporter by 2027, it has emerged as India’s fifth-largest arms supplier. Joint ventures such as the K-9 Vajra howitzers highlight growing private-sector involvement in defense production. Security cooperation has deepened since the mid-2000s, driven by shared concerns over North Korea–Pakistan ties.
In parallel, India’s globally recognized space achievements and South Korea’s ambitions to become a space power by 2032 present new opportunities. The 2014 ISRO–KARI agreement laid the foundation for peaceful space collaboration. The roundtable explored how both countries can align their strengths in defense and space through joint research, technology sharing, and strategic coordination to strengthen regional security and bilateral ties.
