Building on the outcomes of the previous two workshops under the Australia–India Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) Cooperation project, the third Workshop will continue this momentum through a focused engagement in Australia. The workshop aims to advance earlier discussions into more practical and operational frameworks to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Australia and India in the undersea domain.

It focuses on key themes including undersea search and rescue, deep-sea awareness, and the challenges industry faces in bridging the gap between naval aspirations and the operationalisation of policy, capability requirements, and emerging technologies. These discussions represent important areas for enhancing maritime safety, information-sharing, and broader strategic coordination in the Indo-Pacific.

A significant component of the workshop is the incorporation of the project’s first Expert Exchange, including a specially designed table-top exercise on search and rescue operations aimed at strengthening bilateral operational coordination and cooperation.

We are hosting this workshop as part of a two-year initiative supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) under the Australia–India Strategic and Technology Policy Initiative (SATPI).
