February 24 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
The panel will discuss the strategic inflection point in India Germany defense and space cooperation, driven by Germany’s Zeitenwende and India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat. Recent policy momentum, including Germany’s major investments in defense and space technologies and India’s liberalised space sector, has opened new avenues for collaboration. Germany’s strengths in advanced payloads, robotics, precision subsystems and submarine technologies complement India’s cost effective launch capabilities, scalable manufacturing and emerging innovations in hyperspectral imaging and advanced propulsion. Flagship initiatives such as submarine co production, expanded military exercises and deeper ISRO DLR engagement signal a shift from buyer seller ties to co creation and joint innovation.
At the same time, export controls, regulatory fragmentation, intellectual property concerns and limited institutional familiarity continue to constrain deeper integration. The discussion will assess whether structured mechanisms, joint missions and innovation ecosystems can overcome these barriers and translate converging strategic visions into durable industrial interdependence and enhanced strategic autonomy.
The event will also feature the release of two CSDR reports on India Germany defense and space cooperation.
