Dinakar Peri is a Senior Assistant Editor with The Hindu newspaper covering defence and strategic affairs for almost a decade. He is an alumni of the U.K. Foreign Office’s Chevening South Asia Journalism Programme and the U.S. State Department’s International Visiting Leadership Programme. Prior to journalism, he was an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), an autonomous think tank of the Indian Army and worked on special projects with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), a tri-service think tank. He holds two Masters degrees – MSc in Biotechnology and MBA in Business Sustainability. In between the two degrees, he was a biology researcher for four years and worked at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad and as junior research fellow at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. He made a transition from biology to policy research due to his long held interest and passion for the field. He regularly writes commentaries and appears on television as an expert on defence and strategic affairs issues.
