Torunika Roy

Research Assistant
Torunika Roy is a PhD candidate in Korean Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She holds a BA from Ewha Womans University and an MA from JNU. Her research focuses on gender dynamics, low fertility rates, denuclearization, and socio-political issues in East Asia, particularly South Korea.

Torunika Roy is pursuing a PhD in Korean Studies at the Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She holds a BA in International Studies, specializing in East Asian Studies and International Law and Diplomacy from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea, and an MA in International Relations and Area Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She was a Korea Research Fellow affiliated with Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, during her field research. Fluent in Hindi, English, and Bangla, she also has a working knowledge of Korean.

Her research encompasses diverse topics, including gender dynamics, low fertility rates in East Asia, and efforts toward denuclearization. She is particularly interested in exploring the interplay between socio-cultural and political factors shaping modern East Asia. Through her work, she aims to address critical issues at the intersection of gender, society, and international relations, offering insights into South Korea’s evolving challenges.
