Dr. Sidharth Raimedhi

Fellow

Sidharth Raimedhi is a Fellow at CSDR. He is the editor-in-chief, and contributor, to the DIPTEL newsletter which covers contemporary Indian foreign policy developments on a weekly basis.

Sidharth Raimedhi has a PhD from JNU. His thesis is titled ‘Theorizing the Absence of Balancing Behavior: Competing Neo-Realist Explanations’ and offers a broad historical perspective on counter-balancing behavior against the US. Previously, he worked as a research analyst with the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs. In this capacity, he prepared daily roundups and monthly reports on international developments related to China. He has published articles and book chapters on various international relations and security subjects for publications such as Sage and Routledge. Furthermore, he has delivered numerous lectures on Indian foreign policy and IR theory to foreign officers in training for the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). His current research focuses on India-China relations, the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on Indian foreign policy, and China’s rise in the Indo-Pacific. He is interested in using simulation exercises and wargaming as research tools. He is also the editor of DIPTEL, CSDR’s weekly newsletter, and is working on a project titled “India-China Alternative Futures” with Dr Happymon Jacob for USIP.

Torunika Roy

Research Assistant

Torunika Roy is a PhD candidate in Korean Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She holds a BA from Ewha Womans University and an MA from JNU. Her research focuses on gender dynamics, low fertility rates, denuclearization, and socio-political issues in East Asia, particularly South Korea.

Hely Desai

Research Associate

Hely Desai is a nuclear policy expert and Research Fellow at CTBTO, focusing on South Asian nuclear policy. With an MPhil from Cambridge, she has worked at the Centre for Air Power Studies and India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Shashank Tiwari

Research Intern

Shashank is a research intern at CSDR, where he focuses on international security and defense. He holds a master’s degree in Politics (International & Area Studies) from Jamia Millia Islamia and a bachelor’s in Political Science from Mumbai University’s K.J. Somaiya College.

Aditi Gade is pursuing a Double MA in Public Policy and International Relations from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad and Macquarie University, Sydney.

Distinguished Fellow

Ashok K. Kantha is a distinguished diplomat who served as India’s Ambassador to China (2014-16) and Secretary (East) at the Ministry of External Affairs. With over 38 years of diplomatic experience specializing in India’s neighborhood relations, he was India’s lead negotiator for key agreements with China.

Prof. Sumit Ganguly

Prof. Sumit Ganguly is a Senior Fellow and the Director of the Huntington Program on Strengthening the US-India Relationship at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He is also the Rabindranath Tagore Chair in Indian Cultures and Civilizations Emeritus and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Ajay Bisaria is a distinguished diplomat, strategic consultant, and commentator on international affairs. With a career spanning 35 years in the Indian Foreign Service, he has played pivotal roles in shaping India’s key economic and security relationships.

Dr. Iqbal Singh Sevea

Dr. Sevea is an Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). An internationally recognized scholar of contemporary and modern South Asia, his research focuses on South Asian politics and social and political thought.

Dr. Tishya Khillare is a Fellow at CSDR. She leads CSDR’s work on Non-traditional Security issues in South Asia and the Indo Pacific, specifically on Climate Diplomacy, South-South and Triangular Cooperation, Feminist Foreign Policy, and Gender and Security.
