Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh is a distinguished Indian Army officer commissioned into the Madras Regiment on 12 June 1982. He later joined the elite Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in January 1984. With extensive experience in high-altitude warfare, he commanded units including a parachute regiment, the Siachen Brigade, and an infantry division along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir. He served as Chief of Staff, Northern Command, and as a key planner in the 2016 surgical strikes across the border. He also served as the Director General of Military Operations and was instrumental in the 2021 ceasefire agreement with Pakistan, as well as Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy). A graduate of IMA, DSSC Wellington, Army War College, Mhow, and NDC Delhi, he is a Sena Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal recipient.
